19th-Aug-2008 08:54 pm - [icons] [various fandoms, Ghost Hunt, DtB, Apollo Justice, Gakuen Alice] Batch post #007
Seventh icon post. I...think I'm really bad at updating or posting, considering that school ended maybe two or three months ago. I've just had a lot on my mind and my veritable plate, I guess. A zillion icons this time that have been building up for several months - you might've seen the [info]manga_battle ones. And for those, since I made icons for so many different fandoms and they're mostly in order of submission in the table, hover to see who/what's in the icon.

And as the battle icons painfully show, I suck at grayscale. I never want to touch it again. D8

Things to remember:
- credit, please
- comments, love you forever
- no to alterations, but yes to requests
- hotlinking kills my bandwidth ded, so please to be not doing that and thanks.
- want to archive? request first.
- enjoy!

18th-Aug-2008 11:02 pm - yellow nail polish
okay, me again. something different this time:

does anyone know a store where i can find yellow nail polish? i'm looking for a true warm yellow with no shimmer/neon/chrome. something like "hot pop yellow" here.

full disclosure: i need it to touch up chipped paint on my bike. i might end up ordering from that website but i'd like a variety to choose from to get a good match.
18th-Aug-2008 10:26 am - Luli Fama / Cover Style Swimwear
 Hi everyone

i wanted to get this swimsuit:

or this one

Because I'm ordering online, I don't know which bottom size to get... I'm a size 2 dress size, and sometimes a 26 in jeans on a good day..

Does anyone know how true the sizes are? I want the bottom to be tight (mainly because i dont have an ass), but not muffin top tight (because i have a tummy)...

Do you guys know any stores that sell this brand so I can just try it on myself??
17th-Aug-2008 07:19 pm - nivea toner
Anyone know where I can get this in San Francisco?

I'm trying to avoid going outside the city (thus paying extra BART fare) to go to an ULTA to pick it up.. can't find it at Rite Aid or Walgreens. There must be someone in SF who uses this!

Otherwise, I might just order online, because a round-trip bart ticket would cost me $7 anyway.. -_-"

16th-Aug-2008 10:32 pm - fine hair question
To the girls with fine hair--how do you treat it?
I used to have a perm for a few years but my hair became pretty damaged since I dyed it regularly as well. My hair is still a little wavy but I was thinking about perming it again to get more volume. Also, I shower at night, don't blow dry my hair, and only use a comb on my hair so I'm pretty low-maintenance, but I was wondering if there were any styling products that are good to use. Thanks!
17th-Aug-2008 12:55 am - boston haircuts for asian hair
my hair is awkwardly growing out from its boy-short homebrew haircut, and it's driving me crazy. i sort of look like dora the explorer at this point. does anyone have any recommendations for hair salons in the boston area who do a good job with asian hair? i live in allston and am thinking of making an appointment at scissor sound, but 40$ for a haircut seems a lot for this recent college grad.

on a related note, if you live in the area and want to trade a haircut for cookies or something, i will gladly bike to your place! :P
16th-Aug-2008 05:08 pm - Hot roller suggestions
Hey Asian lovelies,

I'm in the market for some nice big hot rollers that will create long, loose, natural looking curls that will last throughout the day but also not require the entire day to set. I've perused the hair tags in the memories, and tried the LJ Seek option but all it would give me was a blank page. If it works for someone else or someone can already think of a pertinent post, I'd love to be directed to and I'll promptly delete my entry. :)

I've been looking into Conair, and picked up an Easy Start kit with the translucent rollers but it has spikes in the rollers that everyone claims gives straight hair weird kinks, and it takes a really long time to heat up. I'm looking to return it tomorrow or Monday morning; if I were to exchange it, the only other Conair my Wal Mart has available is this one. Would it be worth it? I definitely want the biggest bang for my buck and I want this set to last me at least a few years. If it helps, my hair is down to my mid-back, fairly thick, and straight.

If it helps, I'm in southern Ontario and don't get out very often. Wal Mart and Zellers and Giant Tiger didn't have much to offer...

Thanks!
15th-Aug-2008 05:17 pm - Special A Fanlistings
Here are two of my latest fanlistings. Umbrella: a Yahiro and Megumi fanlisting and Perfect Situation: a Finn and Ryu fanlisting. These two are my top favorite pairings in the S.A. series. Hehe! I really like the layout for YahiroxMegumi fanlisting the best because it's animated. :) A big thanks goes to [info]midnightsabre for helping me with the script for the links! Thanks a bunch Chrizta!
14th-Aug-2008 10:29 pm - Express jeans smell!
I just bought a pair of jeans from Express (Stella style)..they fit perfectly too! Never bought their jeans before so maybe someone who has can tell me if it's normal for them to have a god-awful odor. I washed them once after I bought them and they are a normal color, somewhere in the medium shade (the tag says 10w for the wash). I had my arms wrapped around my legs when sitting on the couch and now even my arms smell like them! I'm sad cause they're the PERFECT fit :( Anyone else have experience with their jeans?
14th-Aug-2008 08:02 pm - Phytospecific
I just learned about this today and I was just curious if there were any users in here who have an opinion about it. I'm interested in using to to stop having to flat iron my hair everyday. Thank you!
14th-Aug-2008 03:16 am - Co-Washing
I am wondering if anyone in the community has tried a technique called co-washing. It's where instead of washing your hair with shampoo and conditioner. You use the conditioner as a shampoo. You can use the cheap stuff for everyday, and use the expensive stuff for deep conditioning.  Apparently, according to the beauty tip it say you want to wet your hair thoroughly and apply the same amount of conditioner into your hair and massage it. Then, leave the conditioner on your hair for 3 minutes. Wash the conditioner off completely. If you like after towel drying apply so leave-in conditioner and style as usual.

I am thinking about trying this out to improve the texture of my hair for my friends' wedding that's coming up this Halloween. Any opinions would be wonderous.
13th-Aug-2008 09:44 pm - Packing makeup and mascara recs?
I'm flying up to Boston for college in about a week and a half--the plane trip is only about two hours (but driving would be 20+, so we're definitely flying), but I'm worried about some of my eyeshadows. My favorites tend to be Urban Decay, which I've heard are comparatively fragile and tend to shatter if dropped. How should I pack my makeup to ensure it gets there in one piece?

Also, I lovelovelove Bourjois Yes to Volume No to Clumps mascara, but I'm blessed with single eyelids that are also very oily, so any non-waterproof mascara/eyeliner will smudge on me. Even MAC fluidline Blacktrack makes me look like a panda by the end of the day, and I don't mean cute and cuddly. I've tried Pump up the Volume waterproof but find it causes spider-lashes on me. Any recs for volumizing mascara?

Thanks a ton! :)
13th-Aug-2008 06:07 pm - digital perm in Chicago
Could anyone tell me of a place or places in the Chicago area that does digital perms (if you know ball park prices for it, that'd be great too!).  I tried looking on yelp.com and googling it, but nothing definitive comes up.

Thank you!
13th-Aug-2008 03:08 pm - Ema & Klavier Fanlisting
Here's my latest fanlisting False Alarm: The Ema & Klavier fanlisting from Apollo Justice! Haha! At least now I know I'm over and done with Ace Attorney stuff---that is if I don't make a shrine sometime soon. xD I still have two Special A fanlistings coming up and hopefully I can add those two up later. :)

Other than that I have a new project coming soon...hopefully. Also Twilight-Rain.org will be turning onto it's 1 year status and sadly I am having a layout block. D:
12th-Aug-2008 11:57 pm - i'm only okay with this because the jonas brothers wear purity rings
This was something we were conversing over DINNER:
mom: ...so now she has to provide a home for her daughter, her husband, and her grandchild. And she's my age! The daughter got pregnant at 18 and now she's dropping out of college. You see? It nearly ruined both their lives. Inggrid, don't you ever dare fool around until you finish your education. Right, dad?
dad: ... be responsible of your choices.
inggrid: yeah. pre-marital sex is bad. I know, I know.
mom: right. There will be times when you're tempted, but you have to keep a clear head.
inggrid: okay fine, I won't have sex until I'm married.
mom: that's good.
inggrid: oh, but foreplay is okay, right?
... and then all of the dinner they'd just consumed so far went straight back up and out.
12th-Aug-2008 04:51 pm - Pencil skirt
Can anyone recommend an excellent and affordable pencil skirt? One that can double up as a business casual work outfit or a cute retro-y look?
10th-Aug-2008 10:20 am - trouser jeans
i just recently bought these lovely trouser jeans from F21. i'd like to show them to you, but the pictures on the site really don't do them justice, especially when paired with terrible shoes.

what i'm looking for are some great 70s-inspired platform wedges. anyone have some great ones they've come across?
11th-Aug-2008 01:04 am - Sunblock & Blotting
Hey girls!

Not sure if this has been asked before but... if I blot my face after using sunblock, will it reduce its effectiveness?

The sunblock that I use (L'oreal's Solar Expertise Range SPF50) is rather oily but its really effective and doesn't break me out. I find using those which doesn't make me grease up e.g. Sofina, Chanel makes me break out the next day with one or two bumps of white gunk ugh. I suspect it's the alcohol contained in them.

Thanks a bunch!

x.

9th-Aug-2008 11:53 pm - “i love you. most ardently.”
I just watched Pride And Prejudice ...

... and I seriously need my own Mr. Darcy.
or rather, a boyfriend whose name doesn't end in .jpg /shot

I seriously hope I grow to love my husband--whoever he is--as much as I love fictional characters. ( what! I can't help my high standards! ) I mean, how many times have I melted watching that film? I have a feeling I'm gonna transform into quite the Austenite during the next few days. There's just something so charming about the 1800's ... or rather, there's just something so charming about the boys in the 1800's. They show this polite mannerism that boys these days ( the ones around where I am, anyway ) lack.  I love the internet and the technological age and whatnot, but sometimes I feel like I was born at the wrong time.

PS: Welcome back, [info]nichiyobii ! Fun time in Bali?
PPS: I got a poupeegirl account here. It's surprisingly fun ... anyone else have a poupee account?
